Please plan on attending. by Emmalee Lockwood May was a huge month for the Grain Valley Bands! First off our wind ensemble put on a great performance at the Veterans Day ceremony! Our wind ensemble also spent multiple days after school recording their concert pieces to submit to competition. Our middle school bands were also able to put on a fantastic performance at their concert this year and are so proud of all the work our middle schoolers have put in! The High school ensembles said goodbye to our beloved seniors at the senior farewell concert. Despite it being an emotional night the ensembles all put on an excellent performance. With the senior farewell concert drawing the concert season to a close the bands started moving towards marching season! At our show reveal on top of reveling the 2021 marching eagles show Chances Are, and introducing us to our new band director Mr.Vanbiber. We are all so excited to welcome Mr. Vanbiber to the team and cant wait to work with him this marching season and hopefully many more to come! To end the month of May we had our minicamp. This gave us an opportunity to get everyone working with music and fundamentals and give them things t get working on over the summer and really start our marching season strong. We ended the week with a show and tell. The guard performed some of their warmups and their fight song choreography, the front enables battery and the winds performed the opening music for the show. WE cannot wait to work on all of these skills more over the summer and watch our band grow and learn more as we go! Looking into June we start Guard Camps and Winds music camps and Percussion camps that we cant wait to see everyone at! Students be on the lookout for information from your section leaders about sectionals in the month of June leading up to band camp, and make sure to sign up for your firework tent shift! This can be done through cut time under the volunteer tab. We cannot wait to get this marching season started and to see the show form together over these next few months!
