Hello Band Family!! Welcome to the first of many articles regarding the state of the band program written for you, by students!

April has been a large and exciting month for GV Bands. Our Winter Guard season has sadly come to a close, we are so thankful for all the amazing work put into the program by students and directors that made the Varsity, JV and Middle School shows one to remember. A large highlight of the past month was our Gala Concert, all 6 of our concert ensembles performed that night and completely brought the house down, so proud of everyone's dedication and drive to make the Gala Concert a total success. GV Bands annual Night of Jazz was another highpoint of April. The 3 jazz ensembles performing (MS Jazz Ensemble, GV Jazz Lab & Eagle Jazz Ensemble) all proved that students can still make excellent music OUTSIDE of class, congrats to all 3 of those ensembles you all sounded great!! Shortly after the Night of Jazz followed the Night of Percussion. Nearly every single percussion student was able to perform that night. With the excellent planning of Mr. Batchelor and the supreme talent of these percussion ensembles, the night went off without a hitch.

Jumping forward, the month of May has lots to look forward to. We plan to celebrate our veterans with our Wind Ensemble playing during a ceremony at Butterfly Park. Drumline auditions are starting to take place and we can't wait to see who will be making up that amazing group of musicians, best of luck to everyone auditioning! Finally and arguably the most important date coming up for the GVME is our Mini Camp taking place May 24th, 25th, and 27th from 4-7. This is the first time the 21’ GVME will be all together under one roof. Lots of important music and visual time will be spent at these camps and we can't wait to hear and see all of what all these great groups of performers have in store! Thank you so much for tuning in and reading, see you on the field!! -Jack :)
