Welcome to the Grain Valley Band Program! Here you will find some helpful information, whether you're a new band parent or a veteran parent needing a refresher.
Communication: The main form of communication from the Band Director comes from FanFare. FanFare is posted to ParentSquare on Sunday year around. Please read it carefully every week to stay updated on events and plans for the band.
The Band Parent Association (BPA) Every parent of a band student is a member of the BPA. Being a member of the BPA can be a very rewarding experience. There are many different ways to contribute to the BPA: you can volunteer to help in a variety of ways, and another way is donating with financial contributions. If you choose to volunteer with the BPA, you get to see the "behind-the-scenes" of the marching season and feel more connected to the band "family". Financial contributions help the band get the "extras" to ensure our students and staff have a superior band education and experience.
The BPA also has a Board of elected Directors, Vice President, and President. The BPA Board members oversee the different committees and support all aspects of the band program. Please see the BPA page under Parents & Families on the website for more information.
Volunteering: Volunteering as a band parent is vital to the success of our school band program. Your involvement helps provide the resources, organization, and emotional support that young musicians need to thrive. From fundraising efforts to event coordination, every hour you give directly impacts the students' experiences, ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to grow as artists and individuals. It’s not just about logistics; it’s about fostering a community where students feel supported, parents feel connected, and the band program can flourish. Your presence makes all the difference—both on and off the field. Parent Helpful Hints: This is passed out every Registration Night and other times throughout the year. It is full of very helpful information for the entire year. In case you forget the information or lost your sheet, please click here to read.
All Things Band Camp: Band Camp Letter for Families Band Clothing: All students have the same clothing, so it's really helpful to label all shirts, shorts, pants, and even marching shoes. The labels and marker we suggest are Avery No-Iron Fabric Labels and the Sharpie Rub-a-Dub Laundry Marker.
